Re: When will it be acceptable to critisise Pellegrini?
We need to do what Palace did with Frank De Boer - We've backed the wrong horse - face up to it, deal with the mistake and make the change.

The board will argue they listened to the fans, got in a 'top class manager' and backed him with the funds.

I would love to know who is advising the dinosaurs at the helm. I knew from the off this appointment would turn out to be a very, very expensive mistake. It's not just the contract payout when they eventually sack him, it's the money they've spent on players he allegedly wanted.

As a board - how do you not sit down at the end of the season, look at the group of players we already had - look at the system we had been playing - then look at managers who might be able to work with what was there, plus a few good quality additions.

The whole situation, whilst on the face of it looked so positive, new manager, umpteen new players - record signing etc - It was so glaringly wrong to me. I'm so disappointed as it feels like another opportunity missed by the board to create and build something special.

I stand by what I said after the Bournemouth game;

Re: When will it be acceptable to critisise Pellegrini?
For me the following is glaringly obvious from the last two games;

At the end of last season, we actually looked decent going forward using 3-5-2. This 4 2 i don't know what is shambolic. There is no structure, no balance, no game plan.

We have failed the address one of the main concerns which was a top class holding midfielder. There are no legs in the defence, or in front of the defence. We will get ripped apart time and again this season - there are no mug punter teams in this league anymore.

So if we are to play 3-5-2. Which looking at it is the soundest formation you can play defensively, then we've bought the wrong players. We're now over loaded with wide men who won't play in that system.

Managerwise I was calling for Eddie Howe in the summer. A man with a plan. A man that wouldn't have spunked 40 million of Felipe Anderson. Pants well and truly round are ankles with that one. No redeeming features. Weak, slow, can't beat a man, lazy.

This is no knicker wetting. These are just facts

A long season lay ahead

I must also confess though - that I hope it is not that the squad is unfit - but that they are being worked really really really hard in practice.... They are tired, not lazy.
My hope maybe - but time will tell.

I think it is always right to criticise, but being constructive not destructive.
Manuel would be the first to admit that he hasnt got it right yet. I hope he knows that..

Difference is the Pozzi family know what they are doing. Look at their record on players & managers.

Willy, that's how it works in American sports, although the head coach does have input

goose - Watford don't let their manager get involved in recruitment - he has to get the best out of the squad he is given. We tried that with Sulli recruiting everyone and that didn't work out. We go the other way and let Pelli recruit when he's not been involved in Europe for the last 3 years.

Speaking of Watford, any see how they got on today? Got in Spurs faces second half and actually put some pressure on the opposition.

We could learn a few things.

Ask Watford for advice, they seem pretty good at keep finding good managers.

Re: When will it be acceptable to critisise Pellegrini?
One thing I do know is that Pellegrini is one of the world's best managers. If he can't sort us out we could try Jose Mourhino next. He'll be available soon or we could just say "fuck it!" Let's stick with him and see where it gets us...

Re: When will it be acceptable to critisise Pellegrini?
the ironic thing is that despite us being shit (and we have been) if we'd have taken some of our chances we could quite easily be sitting there with 7-9 points . It would be papering over the cracks but even yesterday we had enough chances to be 2 up before they scored. And before anyone states the obvious i am aware they had chances too.

Re: When will it be acceptable to critisise Pellegrini?
Very fair that the manager is receiving criticism particularly after yesterday.

Still early days in my eyes, hopefully there’s a change (don’t know where it will come from) after the international break.

As a side note we’re clearly looking at on pitch performances alone, given that we’ve been here with 3 consecutive managers - it has to be said that I wonder what the hell is going on behind the scenes, culturally the place is a shambles, the training ground has already been deemed sub par by the manager, mediocrity has been accepted over many years. It’s dysfunctional, I fear it needs more than change on the pitch to fix our issues and suspect it’s the manager who is going to need to bring about that change to make us a more professional and ambitious outfit (if he gets the time - we all know results are everything)

Re: When will it be acceptable to critisise Pellegrini?
The massive lack of investment is the issue, if we’d have invested over the last few years we’d have built steadily and in the right way, instead we have brought 7 or 8 players dropped them intoa new managers shit ideas and we have a complete mess!

nychammer 11:14 Sun Sep 2
Re: When will it be acceptable to critisise Pellegrini?
We need to sack him if we fail as miserably at Everton. It’s plain to see where this is going and the board have to suck it up (yet again). This is another expensive gamble gone tits up and it could really cost us this time.

Re: When will it be acceptable to critisise Pellegrini?
What are MP credentials and track record for managing successfully a club like West Ham?

Any success is another country almost a decade and not dissimilar to Moyes, saying he won the Premier League is pretty irrelevant unless he built that side from a similar standing to us.

For me it is another example of the club’s vision and recruitment being non existent and another example both on and of the pitch of gettting in yesterday men in the hope they can recreate past glories.

An ambitious appointment would have been to recruit a younger manager and players in overall plan to let everyone grow and developed together within whatever vision the club had.

Sadly there has been little investment in that in the last decade, you only have to look at the training facilities to understand the club gives little thought for the future

If this goes wrong then the fault falls squarely on those running the club as it has been a long time coming, they know it and thought panicking by bringing a big name to fix it shows equally how inept our owners are.

MP is doing little else than you expected him to do in his approach and if it worked it bought us a couple of seasons at best but if it fails the consequences will be disastrous.

Let me put it another way. Instead of buying all the players we have now, all in one go, we could of bought them in steadily.

Maybe then they would had a much better impact.

As I say we aren't Man City or any of the top six. I'd love a load of world class signings but let's be realistic they aren't going to want to come to West Ham. The only way we would get world class signings is if an Abramovic or Sheikh Mansour were to buy the club.

Zico,

If you only want to stay in the league, then I completely agree - you wouldn't need 'top quality.

However, it would be nice to now aim higher, especially as we've moved to the new stadium on the proviso, we're stepping up a level to compete with the top teams.
